Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Wellington | Full-Time 

Interesting and technically challenging Infrastructure Engineering role, working on complex enterprise-scale projects.

About the Role

My client is a leading NZ Applications and Infrastructure Services provider delivering specialised Infrastructure, Automation and Security solutions to major public‑sector organisations across Australasia. They're seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to support a key client in Trentham, working across Windows, Linux, networking, virtualisation, and private cloud environments.

What You'll Do

You'll take ownership of infrastructure delivery and support, lead technical workstreams, mentor junior engineers, and ensure secure, reliable, high‑performing systems. This role will suit someone with strong hands‑on experience across server administration, hypervisors (VMware / Hyper‑V), networking and happy to work in operational or project environments.  

What You Bring

• Deep experience supporting Windows and Linux server environments

• Strong experience with VMware or Hyper‑V

• Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs)

• Exposure to Azure, Citrix, monitoring tools, or performance tuning (desirable)

• Solid background in incident response, maintenance, and client support

• Government agency experience and knowledge of protective security standards (PRA, PSR, NZISM)

• Strong communication and documentation skills

• Experience mentoring or coaching junior staff

• Agile and DevSecOps familiarity (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, ADO)
